In April 2017, the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker presented a White Paper on the Future of Europe, including 5 possible scenarios for discussion at European and Member State levels. The CSOs’ alliance SDG Watch Europe in collaboration with Friends of the Earth Europe has developed an alternative “Scenario 6: Sustainable Europe for its citizens“, which focuses on a more Sustainable and Fairer Europe.
ALDA, together with more than 250 other European Civil Society Organisation, has endorsed this 6th Scenario. The scenario strongly points out the importance of focusing on Europe’s core social values such as democracy and participation, social justice, solidarity and sustainability, respect for the rule of law and human rights, both within Europe and around the globe.
